Ivan Moudov discusses fake museum opening, stolen art fragments, and mobile gallery project in 2010 interview
In 2010, Bulgarian artist Ivan Moudov showcased his work "Garbage," a video depicting the transport of Swiss waste to Germany, at the group exhibition Beyond Credit in Istanbul, which was curated by Maria Vassileva, Iara Boubnova, and Luchezar Boyadjiev. He characterized Bulgaria's art community as "too compact," noting that many artists work abroad. His MUSIZ initiative featured a faux museum opening in Sofia, drawing over 400 attendees to spark dialogue about the lack of museums. Moudov dismissed later museum announcements as "cheap PR" and highlighted significant institutions such as ICA – Sofia and Vaska Emanouilova Gallery. His Fragments project transitioned from art theft to selective acquisition. Additionally, he co-founded 0gms gallery, a mobile drawer space, and has participated in numerous exhibitions, including the 2007 Venice Biennale.
