Iurilli, Bosso, and De Gaetano Exhibitions at Fondazione Pino Pascali
The Fondazione Pino Pascali in Polignano a Mare, Puglia, hosts two concurrent exhibitions: "A White Tale," a double solo show by sculptor Iginio Iurilli and photographer Francesco Bosso curated by Antonio Frugis, and "Speed of Life," a retrospective of Cristiano De Gaetano curated by Christian Caliandro. Iurilli's site-specific "Conche di Sale" sculptures, made of terracotta covered in quartz and marble dust on a sea salt bed, explore expanded matter and the Mediterranean. Bosso's "White World" series photographs icy, impersonal landscapes, channeling Edward Weston and Ansel Adams. De Gaetano's (1975-2013) works include portraits on wood with wax and pongo, referencing Divisionism and pixels, and later glacial sea homages to Friedrich. The Project Room features Carlo Battisti from Museo Nuova Era, Bari, under the ShowCase initiative. A docufilm on Iurilli by Alessandro Piva screened April 22 at the foundation.
