IUAD Accademia della Moda Hosts Virtual Open Days, Unveils New Fab Lab

IUAD Accademia della Moda, founded in the 1960s by Domenico Lettieri in Naples, with a second campus in Milan, is adapting its traditional open days to virtual formats due to the pandemic. The private higher education institution, recognized by MIUR for AFAM courses in Fashion Design, Interior Design, and Visual Communication, will hold online open days on March 22, 25, 26 (for three-year courses) and April 9 (for specialized two-year programs). These events will showcase the academy's curriculum, student work, contests, workshops, and a new Fab Lab focused on innovation and research for Industry 4.0. President Michele Lettieri emphasized the need for continuous evolution in design, leading to a research program using advanced technology, sustainable materials, and new solutions for market and societal needs. The recently inaugurated Fab Lab serves as a research center for product design and accessories, combining traditional craftsmanship (sewing machines, skiving machines) with digital modeling tools and various 3D printers capable of printing pieces over 50 cm high. The lab aims to foster collaboration with students, faculty, and other universities through upcoming competition announcements on the academy's website.
