Itinérances: L’art en déplacement explores nomadic practices in contemporary art
Edited by Laurent Buffet, 'Itinérances. L’art en déplacement' (De l'incidence éditeur) assembles a diverse corpus of articles on Dada, André Cadere, Daniel Buren, Jacques Roubaud, Laurent Tixador's commentary on WWI shell casings, the Lettrist movement, and the Situationist International. The publication interrogates the notion of displacement in contemporary art, arguing that itinerancy is not reducible to praxis but belongs to poiesis. It asks how itinerancies can map new territories and offer an alternative to the naive apology of nomadism prevalent in art and humanities. The book maps current practices that are simultaneously being reinvented. It includes original artworks created for the publication, such as a line by dector & dupuy and an intervention by Neal Beggs. Alexandre Mare contributed to the volume.
