Ithra Art Prize Expands to All 22 Arab Countries for Fifth Edition

In Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, also known as Ithra, has kicked off the fifth edition of the Ithra Art Prize. This year, it's open to citizens and long-term residents from all 22 Arab countries. The prize offers a whopping USD 100,000 to a contemporary artist or group for a one-of-a-kind artwork that will join Ithra's permanent collection. Initially launched in 2017 for Saudi artists, the award expanded regionally in 2021. Past winners include Nadia Kaabi-Linke in 2021 and Fahad Bin Naif in 2020. For 2023, there’s a set prize and plans for a global exhibition. Applications are due by April 1, 2023, and the winner will be announced on May 15, 2023.
