Italy's Recovery Plan allocates over €6 billion to culture

Italy's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), presented by Prime Minister Mario Draghi at Montecitorio, allocates over €6 billion to culture. The total sum of €6.675 billion includes €4.275 billion in investments and €1.460 billion from the Complementary Fund for the Strategic Plan for Major Cultural Attractors, targeting 14 sites. The plan is part of the EU's Next Generation EU initiative. Culture Minister Dario Franceschini stated that culture will contribute significantly to the country's recovery. The cultural measures are divided into four chapters: digitalization and enhancement of cultural venues (€1.1 billion), valorization of architecture and rural landscape (€2.720 billion), development of the film industry (€455 million), and restoration of 14 major cultural attractors (€1.460 billion). Specific projects include the Biennale di Venezia, Porto Vecchio di Trieste, BEIC in Milan, and the Real Albergo dei Poveri in Naples.
