Italy has introduced the online General Catalog of Cultural Heritage (Catalogo Generale dei Beni Culturali), a digital resource designed for the identification and description of cultural assets that hold artistic, historical, archaeological, or ethno-anthropological significance. This government initiative collaborates with local authorities and regions, employing Linked Open Data for searches based on author, location, and sector, along with interactive mapping features. The homepage is regularly updated with new entries. The catalog encompasses all previously published works, aiming to establish a verified map of Italy's cultural heritage, with input from various organizations. Planned enhancements include a cartographic section and the integration of regional open data catalogs, while user interaction will be encouraged through the 'Scene da un patrimonio' portal.
