Italy's Defense Ministry opens 33 properties for 50-year concessions

The Italian Ministry of Defense, through Difesa Servizi, has initiated a tender for the concession of 33 properties, which encompass former barracks, historic villas, and lighthouses, totaling €240 million in value. Interested parties must submit their applications by November 15, 2024. These properties are designated for tourism, sports, logistics, or recreational purposes, including notable sites like the Castello di Carlo V in Capua and Palazzina Livia in Florence. A different tender for three Navy lighthouses will close on November 20, 2024. Furthermore, the Agenzia del Demanio is offering 18 state-owned properties, including Torre di Carlo III and Capo Grosso lighthouse, with a deadline of December 3, 2024. Since 2015, over 50 properties have been leased, raising concerns about their suitability for private ventures.
