Italy hires six experts to census post-war architecture
The Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity (DGCC) of the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and for Tourism, in collaboration with the Fondazione Scuola dei beni e delle attività culturali, has issued a call for six research collaborators. Their task will be to refresh the national census of Italian architecture from the latter half of the 20th century. Over a six-month period, these experts will standardize about 4,300 existing records on an online platform dedicated to mapping contemporary architecture throughout Italy, with each receiving a payment of €10,000. Margherita Guccione highlighted this census as a key project, while Alessandra Vittorini remarked on its potential to inspire discussions on preserving contemporary works. Applications are due by November 13, 2020, and candidates should possess a specialization diploma or PhD in contemporary architecture (or equivalent) earned in the last decade.
