Italy for Movies: New Portal for Film Locations Launched at Venice Film Festival
A new online platform, Italy for Movies, was unveiled at the 74th Venice International Film Festival, aiming to promote Italian locations for film and audiovisual productions. The portal is a collaboration between the Directorate General for Cinema and the Directorate General for Tourism of MiBACT, with the support of Istituto Luce Cinecittà. It consolidates information on available locations, financial incentives from the state and regions, and aims to boost tourism. The project builds on the earlier, now-offline portal La bussola del Cinema. Italian Film Commissions played a key role in its development. Stefania Ippoliti, President of Italia Film Commission, emphasized cinema's value for culture and tourism. Minister of Cultural Heritage Dario Franceschini stated the portal serves both filmmakers and tourists seeking iconic film locations. Currently available in Italian and English, plans include adding five or six more languages.
