Italy Celebrates Mario Giacomelli's Centenary with Nationwide Exhibitions

Mario Giacomelli (Senigallia, 1925–2000), often referred to as 'the new man of photography,' will be honored in 2025. Major exhibitions are being organized by the Archivio Mario Giacomelli throughout Italy. The first exhibition, 'La camera oscura di Giacomelli,' is curated by Katiuscia Biondi Giacomelli and is on display at Palazzo del Duca in Senigallia until April 6, 2025, featuring around 100 photographs taken between 1950 and 2000. Following this, 'Questo ricordo lo vorrei raccontare' opened at Galleria San Ludovico in Parma on April 12, as part of the PARMA 360 Festival, and will run until May 25, 2025. Two additional exhibitions will take place in Rome from May 20 to August 3, 2025, and in Milan from May 22 to September 7, 2025, showcasing approximately 300 original prints that delve into Giacomelli's connections with contemporary art and poetry.
