Italy celebrates Magnum Photos' 70th anniversary with three exhibitions

exhibition · 2026-05-05

Magnum Photos is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, having been established in Paris by prominent photographers like Robert Capa and Henri Cartier-Bresson. Unlike conventional photo agencies, Magnum empowers its artists by allowing them to retain copyright and maintain creative control. Additional iconic figures such as René Burri and Elliott Erwitt contributed significantly to the cooperative. The organization is renowned for its impactful work during significant historical moments, including Philip Jones Griffiths' coverage of the Vietnam War. To honor this legacy, three exhibitions are taking place in Italy, with notable displays like 'L'Italia di Magnum' in Turin.
