Italy cancels Kanye West concert over security fears

Italian authorities have banned a concert by US rapper Kanye West scheduled for July 18 in Reggio Emilia, citing public safety concerns. The decision was made by provincial prefect Salvatore Angieri following objections from the local Jewish community, who expressed reservations about West's appearance at the Pulse of Gaia Festival due to his history of antisemitic remarks. A separate concert by Travis Scott on July 17 was also canceled. Officials cited the close timing of events, expected large crowds, and the risk of counter-demonstrations, as well as previous concert cancellations in other countries.
