Italian Studio LKA Announces Psychological Thriller Set in 1990s Lazio

Italian development studio LKA and publisher Wired Productions have announced their new video game "When Sirens Fall Silent," set in the Lazio region of Italy during the 1990s. The game is described as a psychological thriller, marking a departure from LKA's previous horror titles. Players follow police officer Mila as she investigates a series of murders and kidnappings, exploring themes of illegal trafficking and misogyny. The game is positioned as the third chapter in LKA's "Storie Senza Voce" series, which aims to tell stories of people forgotten by official history. Previous installments include "The Town of Light" (2016), set in the Volterra psychiatric hospital before the 1978 Basaglia Law, and "Martha Is Dead" (2022), about a Nazi family in Tuscany at the end of World War II. Both earlier games sparked controversy abroad for their depictions of sexual violence and positive portrayal of Nazi occupation, as well as stereotypical representations of mental illness. LKA's games are known for photorealistic reconstructions of Italian historical settings using photogrammetry, and "When Sirens Fall Silent" continues this approach while also focusing on realistic human rendering and character interaction, a new element for the studio. The game was presented at the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted online event organized by PC Gamer, and is expected to release in early 2027. Text will be translated into Italian, but voice acting will be in English only, according to the Steam page.
