Italian Sticker Artist Stelleconfuse on Street Art, Plant-a-Tree, and SAMRO Museum

artist · 2026-04-27

Mirko Vignozzi, known as Stelleconfuse, is an Italian sticker artist who will appear in the documentary 'Sticker Movie' premiering in Portland this October. Since 2008, he has gained international fame for his stickers, many linked to the Plant-a-Tree project, which promotes environmental action through a stylized tree logo. He began working on Plant-a-Tree in 2007, inspired by Pop artists like Franco Angeli and Mario Schifano. The logo evolves as people plant trees, adding branches, leaves, and fruits. Stelleconfuse discovered sticker art in 2008 at the Stick my Car event in Rome, organized by Omino71. He is co-director of SAMRO (Sticker Art Museum Rome), a self-produced museum inside the MAAM (Museo dell'Altro e dell'Altrove di Metropoliz – Città Meticcia) in Rome, reopened in March 2023 after a vandalism incident. He distinguishes Street Art from Urban Art, calling the former a meaningless container term. He believes institutional recognition is fine as long as artists stay true to their ideals. Influenced by Warhol, Segal, Indiana, Haring, Basquiat, and Capogrossi, he lives in Florence, where he finds contemporary art challenging due to Renaissance-focused tourism. He plans a photo book on Plant-a-Tree.
