Italian state museums hit record 60.8 million visitors and €382 million in revenue in 2024

In 2024, Italian state museums and archaeological parks achieved unprecedented visitor numbers, totaling 60,850,091, which marks a 5.3% increase compared to 2023. Ticket sales reached €382,004,344, reflecting a 23% rise. According to Sistan data, 31,764,116 paid entries were recorded across 299 sites, while 19,848,707 gained free access, and 9,217,268 visited 154 sites without charge. Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli celebrated this as 'the best result ever,' crediting the government's initiatives and the implementation of fees at previously free museums by former minister Gennaro Sangiuliano. The Parco Archeologico del Colosseo attracted nearly 15 million visitors, with 70% being international tourists and 73% opting for electronic payments. Paid entries accounted for 73.6% of the total attendance.
