Italian Presence at Seoul's First Architecture Biennale

architecture-design · 2026-05-05

The first Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism, titled 'Imminent Commons,' commenced on September 2, 2017, in Seoul, South Korea, and will continue until November 5, 2017. This event, organized by a collective of global architects and urban planners, emphasizes the significance of public spaces in the face of environmental degradation and social disparities. Among the Italian contributors are MOTOElastico, established by Simone Carena and Marco Bruno, along with artist Giuseppe Stampone, who developed an interactive educational area and a collection showcasing Seoul's plant and animal life. Stampone's initiative, part of the 'Commoning Cities' section curated by Helen Hejung Choi, features workshops on September 2, 5, and 9. Additionally, the MAXXI museum and the City of Rome have revitalized the 'Estate Romana' project with new designs by five emerging architectural teams.
