Italian Pavilion at 2019 Venice Biennale Donates €120,000 Surplus to Arsenale
The Italian Pavilion at the 2019 Venice Biennale, which closed on November 24, 2019, has donated its €120,000 budget surplus to improve the Arsenale venue. The exhibition, titled "Né altra Né questa: La sfida al Labirinto" and curated by Milovan Farronato, featured artists Liliana Moro, the late Chiara Fumai, and Enrico David. The labyrinthine layout encouraged free exploration. Funding came from the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism (Direzione Generale Creatività contemporanea e Rigenerazione urbana), main sponsors Gucci and FPT Industrial, main donor Nicoletta Fiorucci Russo, and numerous private supporters from Switzerland, the USA, Brazil, Bangladesh, and elsewhere. Technical sponsors included Gemmo, C&C Milano, and Select Aperitivo. Farronato stated the decision was made with the Ministry and the Biennale, emphasizing careful budget management and gratitude to the Biennale's professional staff. The surplus will fund necessary improvements to the pavilion space for future editions.
