Tommaso Lisanti, the Italian painter who created futuristic works featuring aliens and flying saucers, has died at age 67. Born in Ferrandina (Matera) in 1956, he later moved to Rome where he lived and worked. He was selected for the 11th Rome Quadriennale in 1986 and collaborated with gallerist Pio Monti on exhibitions including "Due quadri, Un pittore uno scultore" and "Stairway to heaven" at Galleria d'arte contemporanea Pio Monti in Rome. He also participated in the group show "Tenera è la notte" curated by Francesca Monti at Ad Personam Arte Contemporanea in San Severino, Marche, alongside Enzo Cucchi, Michael Eldridge, and Carlo Maria Mariani. In 2000, his solo exhibition "Futuribile 3797" was held at Galleria Maniero in Rome, curated by Lorenzo Canova. Lorenzo Canova, professor at the University of Molise, recalled Lisanti as an artist ahead of his time, admired by Barone Franchetti and Gino De Dominicis, capable of imbuing his paintings with deep enigma and imagining otherworldly landscapes dominated by the mystery of the unknown.
