Italian Museums Undergo Major Renovations from Turin to L'Aquila
This autumn, various museums across Italy are undergoing significant changes. On October 19, Camera in Turin will unveil its OpenCamera initiative, which includes a revamped entrance, a bookshop, and Lavazza’s Oasi café, alongside a multimedia exhibition and an outdoor winter garden. By its tenth anniversary in 2025, Camera might expand to another city. Meanwhile, in Milan, the Museo del Design Italiano at Triennale is set to grow with an €8 million investment, enhancing exhibition spaces and boosting energy efficiency by 2026. The Museo Nazionale d’Abruzzo in L’Aquila is close to reopening after a €14 million renovation. In Florence, the Loggia Isozaki project has been scrapped in favor of a proposed green space. The Galleria dell’Accademia is also undergoing a four-year redesign.
