Italian Museums Improve Accessibility for Children and Families
Italian contemporary art museums are improving their family-oriented services and accessibility in line with ICOM's 2022 guidelines. GAM Torino allows free admission for visitors up to 18 and offers a Cultural Passport for new mothers, along with programs for children aged 0-12 in partnership with Ospedale Mauriziano and nido Peter Pan. MACRO Roma features guided tours and workshops for families, while MAXXI Roma presents multisensory exhibitions and role-playing activities. Centro Pecci Prato conducts joint activities for adults and children, including Arte e Benessere. Museo Novecento Firenze opens early for school events and organizes birthday celebrations. MACTE Termoli, established in 2019, has conducted 100 workshops. Palazzo Grassi Venezia provides family tours and free entry for those up to 19. MAN Nuoro offers sensory labs, and MAMbo Bologna ensures barrier-free access with diverse programs. GAMeC Bergamo partners with midwives for Baby Art Tours. EARTH Foundation Verona hosted a Bruno Munari exhibition and operates Atelier Sostenibile. Pinacoteca Agnelli Torino creates programs for ages 0-3 and allows free entry for caregivers of infants.
