Italian Museums Celebrate International Women's Day 2026 with Free Entry and Feminist Art Initiatives
On March 8, 2026, women can visit Italian state museums and historic sites at no cost. In Reggio Emilia, artist Elena Bellantoni unveils her feminist initiative 'Not Her/Lei Non È Questo,' coinciding with her upcoming solo exhibition 'Ghostwriter' at Fotografia Europea 2026 set for April. CIEFFE honors Pippa Bacca with a textile exhibition at Garage Dé Corner in Soncino, reflecting on her 2008 piece 'Viaggio delle spose.' The Royal Residences of Savoy will also host complimentary events for women. ActionAid’s MUPA in Milan runs from March 7 to 21, showcasing 27 artworks that challenge patriarchal narratives. Additionally, 'GENERAZIONE DONNA' in Lecce features 25 female artists, while the Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento Italiano presents 'Trame di donne' from March 6 to 8.
