Italian Magazine 70percento Devotes Each Issue to a Different Insect
Founded in 2021 by Cecilia Bianchini and Giovanni Cavalleri, the Italian magazine 70percento centers each edition around a specific insect, delving into themes of beauty and humanity's connection to nature. The idea took shape during the COVID-19 lockdown. Each edition features a distinct insect selected by a contributing writer, fostering a dialogue through scientific research. The third edition examined cochineal, linking insect exploitation to gender violence in Mexico. Beginning with the fifth issue in autumn 2024, which will be guest-edited by Livia Satriano and focus on butterflies—scientifically curated by Vittorio Lingiardi—the magazine will transition from vacuum-sealed packaging to lightweight paper resembling butterfly wings and incorporate augmented reality via QR code. The cover price remains €20.
