Italian Historic Venues Open Doors for National Day

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-27

The National Day of Italian Historic Venues returns on Saturday, October 1, 2022, offering a journey through Italy's enogastronomic tradition. Organized by the Associazione Locali Storici d’Italia, which has protected these sites for over 45 years, the event features around 80 appointments across more than 200 cult venues in 15 regions. Visitors can explore places frequented by figures like Umberto Eco, Ernest Hemingway, Hermann Hesse, Maria Callas, and Empress Sissi. The 2022-2023 edition's theme is the 'spirit of survival' of historic venues, which have an average age of 150 years, having survived wars, natural disasters, economic crises, and the pandemic. To qualify as 'historic,' a venue must have at least 70 years of history, original furnishings, and documented illustrious visitors. The program includes tastings, guided tours, and cultural initiatives. Supported by Birra Forst, Lavazza, San Benedetto, and Select, the event highlights venues like the Hotel Cavallino Bianco near the Tre Cime di Lavaredo and the Confetteria Mucci museum in Andria province.
