Italian filmmaker Alessandro D'Alatri dies at 68

Italian director, actor, and screenwriter Alessandro D'Alatri has died at age 68 after an illness. His death comes one week before the David di Donatello awards ceremony. D'Alatri won the David for Best Debut Director for his 1991 film "Americano Rosso." His 1993 film "Senza pelle," starring Kim Rossi Stuart and Anna Galiena, was presented at the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs in Cannes. He also directed "La Febbre" (2005). For television, he helmed series including "I bastardi di Pizzofalcone," "Il Commissario Ricciardi," and "Un Professore." In music, D'Alatri directed video clips for Articolo 31 ("Non è un film," 2001), Elisa ("Heaven Out of Hell," 2001), Negramaro ("Mentre tutto scorre," 2005), Laura Pausini ("Invece no," 2008), and Renato Zero ("Ancora qui," 2009; "Alla fine," 2013). In 2017 he released the feature film "The Startup," about a young Roman inventor who creates a job-matching social network.
