Italian duo molom releases cassette album inspired by Azores volcanic craters
On December 1, 2024, the Italian duo molom, consisting of sculptor Milena Berta and musician Alessandro Pedretti, unveiled their album "Cabeços" on cassette through Oceani Community, with only 40 limited copies available. The album, inspired by the volcanic craters of the Azores where it was created during a 2024 residency, comprises eleven tracks that incorporate a variety of instruments, including Berta’s sculptures. The name molom translates to "musica organica legata all'osservazione del movimento." They gathered sound samples from the craters and engaged with local artisans. Side A presents electroacoustic reinterpretations, while Side B showcases field recordings. In February 2025, they are set to join the Materiis residency, focusing on art, food, and ecosystems.
