Italian designer Cini Boeri dies at 96 in Milan
Cini Boeri, originally named Maria Cristina Mariani Dameno, passed away at the age of 96 in her home in Milan on September 9, 2020. She graduated from Politecnico di Milano in 1951 and collaborated with renowned designers Gio Ponti and Marco Zanuso until establishing her own studio in 1963. Boeri was honored with the Compasso d'Oro in 1979 for her Strips sofa and created iconic pieces such as the Bobo armchair and the Serpentone sofa. Her accolades included two Roscoe Awards and the Ambrogino d'oro in 2019 for her contributions during wartime. In addition to teaching design and writing, she was married to neurologist Renato Boeri and was the mother of three: Sandro, Stefano, and Tito.
