Italian-Danish Artist Exchange Exhibition at IIC Copenhagen
The Italian Institute of Culture in Copenhagen hosts 'Altrove', a dual exhibition featuring Italian artist Paolo Cavinato and Danish artist Anne Skole Overgaard, from August 20 to September 17. The project is a cultural exchange: Cavinato, born in Mantua in 1975, spent time in Copenhagen, while Overgaard (born 1980) lived for three months in the Mantuan countryside. Both artists engaged with themes of center, periphery, and landscape. Cavinato's works—installations, paintings, and prints—reinterpret urban experience through Renaissance ideal city memories, remaining near abstraction. Overgaard's pieces, more intimate and melancholic, reference the flatness and horizontality of the Po Valley landscape, echoing the tradition of Danish Golden Age painters' sketchbooks from their 'Voyage to Italy'. Concurrently, Cavinato's billboard installation 'Mise en abyme' is displayed near Sydhavn Station, showing the same location at different times, supported by the Danish Arts Foundation and the City of Copenhagen, invited by Overgaard.
