Italian Culture Ministry Launches Spotify Channel with 'Paladine' Podcast Series
The Italian Ministry of Culture (MIC) has officially launched its own Spotify channel, inaugurated by the podcast series 'Paladine,' produced in collaboration with Chora Media. The series, narrated by Serena Dandini, consists of eight episodes profiling extraordinary women who protected, studied, and promoted Italy's artistic and cultural heritage. The first four episodes, already online, focus on Noemi Gabrielli, Fernanda Wittgens, Caterina Marcenaro, and Palma Bucarelli. Gabrielli was a museologist and superintendent who directed the Galleria Sabauda. Wittgens, born in 1903, was the first female director of the Pinacoteca di Brera, who saved artworks from Nazi looting and bombings. Marcenaro reorganized the museums of Genoa after World War II. Bucarelli, known as the 'Lady of Art,' was the celebrated director of the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna in Rome. The series deliberately avoids the stereotype of the 'muse' and highlights the courage and professional achievements of these cultural professionals during the dark years of World War II. Massimo Osanna, Director General of Museums, introduced the series, emphasizing its role in bringing these stories to a wide audience. Serena Dandini, a television host, writer, and director of the annual festival 'L'Eredità delle Donne,' narrates the series, aiming to tell a story of professional conquests, courage, passion, and tenacity in the name of art.
