Italian Cultural Institutes showcase contemporary artists worldwide

Italian Cultural Institutes in New York, Paris, Oslo, and Copenhagen are hosting exhibitions by Italian artists through late 2024 and early 2025. In New York, Allegra Hicks presents 'La Ginestra e il Vesuvio' until October 19, 2024, inspired by Giacomo Leopardi's poem, featuring tapestries, bronze sculptures, and 3D embroidery. In Paris, the project 'iosonovulnerabile' curated by Sergio Mario Illuminato runs until November 29, 2024, in the institute's gardens, exploring vulnerability through performative art; director Antonio Calbi comments on art's role in wartime. In Oslo, Roberto Ghezzi's 'WHITE FADES' examines climate change through ice-melt traces from residencies in Greenland (2022) and Svalbard (2023), on view until November 15, 2024. In Copenhagen, Nico Vascellari is the sole Italian artist in 'Poetics of Encryption' at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, curated by Nadim Samman, until January 12, 2025; the group show, previously at KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin, features 38 international artists exploring technology's dark side, including Vascellari's video 'VIT' (2020).
