Italian Cooperation's 3D Exhibition on Iraqi Heritage Preservation at MAXXI
The MAXXI museum in Rome hosts 'Rinascere dalla bellezza. La più grande storia mai scritta sulla sabbia', a multimedia exhibition running until May 22 that showcases Italian Cooperation's efforts since 2003 to protect Iraq's archaeological and artistic heritage. The exhibition features holograms, including a life-size reproduction of the Warka Vase (3200 BC), along with 3D environments, video projections, and photographs. It highlights work in cities such as Nassiriya, Baghdad, Mosul, Suleymaniya, Erbil, and Duhok, which suffered iconoclastic destruction. Deputy Foreign Minister Mario Giro emphasized that destroying a people's cultural memory is equivalent to destroying the people themselves, and that Italy aims to use culture as a bridge. The exhibition also focuses on training Iraqi institutions in museum management and restoration, promoting cultural identity as a strategy for peace and development in conflict-affected areas.
