Italian Chamber of Deputies Launches Online Art Portal Arte.Camera.it

Arte.Camera.it, a new digital platform launched by the Italian Chamber of Deputies, provides online access to its art collection. This collection features paintings, sculptures, and tapestries, either owned by the Chamber or on loan from prominent national institutions like the Uffizi Gallery, Museo di Capodimonte, Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Accademia di Brera, and Palazzo Barberini. The early 20th-century expansion of Palazzo Montecitorio, designed by architect Ernesto Basile—who was born in Palermo in 1855 and passed away in 1960—enabled these deposits. Basile also designed the interiors and furniture of the new palace, including the parliamentary hall. The portal will progressively publish its data, starting with the most notable parts of the collection, which includes works by artists such as Giovanni Boldini, Giorgio Morandi, and Renato Guttuso. This initiative seeks to enhance awareness of Italy's rich cultural heritage.
