Italian-Belgian Contemporary Art Dialogue in Brussels

The Italian Cultural Institute of Brussels and the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium host 'a due. Arte Contemporanea in Italia e Belgio, 1990-2015', a project curated by Laura Viale and Maria Elena Minuto. The exhibition 'Rendez-vous' features works by Serena Fineschi (Siena, 1973), Alessandro Scarabello (Rome, 1979), and Hans Op de Beeck (Turnhout, 1969). It is part of a larger cycle running throughout 2018, including shows, performances, and talks that bring together experiences, generations, and cultures. The project, initiated in 2015, operates on a logic of 'hospitality' where Italian artists invite Belgian colleagues to engage in duets that can be harmonious or contrasting. Previous pairings included Davide Bertocchi with Joris Van de Moortel, and Enrico Gaido with Freek Wambacq. The current trio explores time and the human condition through objects, sculptures, images, and videos, analyzing masters, minute details, realism, and the obsessive description that made Flemish art famous. The exhibition is supported by Renata Fabbri Arte Contemporanea (Milan), The Gallery Apart (Rome), and Galleria Continua (San Gimignano, Beijing, Les Moulins, Havana). Runs until March 4, 2018 at the Oldmasters Museum (Rue de la Régence, 3) and until March 9, 2018 at the Italian Cultural Institute (Rue de Livourne, 38), Brussels, Belgium.
