Italian Artists Dominate Art Basel 2025 Unlimited Section

festival-fair · 2026-04-26

The Unlimited section of Art Basel 2025, curated by Giovanni Carmine, features a strong presence of Italian artists and galleries. The monumental works include installations by Marinella Senatore, Mario Merz, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Mimmo Paladino, Valerio Adami, Piero Golia, and Arcangelo Sassolino. Italian gallery Continua presents three major works: Pistoletto, Sassolino, and a large floating room by Daniel Buren. A standout is Atelier Van Lieshout's sprawling installation 'The Voyage. A March To Utopia', a procession of sculptures themed around energy, mobility, and health, led by two oxen and a scooter, stretching nearly the entire hall. The display is introduced by Senatore's luminous installation, with Merz nearby and a large room for Pistoletto. Adami is featured on a wall, and Golia has a large room. Sassolino's work appears on the cover of Artribune Magazine. The Unlimited section has regained its surprising quality after a period of decline.
