Italian Artists Debut NFTs in Decentraland Travel Diary Exhibition

exhibition · 2026-04-27

A group of eight young Italian artists has introduced NFTs for a digital exhibit called 'Travel Diary' in Decentraland, organized by the New York platform Snark.art. Curated by Sonia Belfiore, the exhibition features JPG, GIF, and MP4 artworks from artists like Nicola Baratto, Yiannis Mouravas, Giulia Furlan, and others. It explores the theme of travel during restrictions. Although none of the artists had NFT experience before, some tweaked existing digital pieces while others crafted new ones. Founded in Brooklyn in 2015, Snark.art tokenized these artworks. Belfiore highlighted the initiative's importance for new talent. The successful sale of select pieces through 'Drops' coincided with the growing interest in crypto art since Beeple's $69 million Christie's auction.
