Italian artist Sof's interactive mosaic Geo 1 transforms with viewer touch, nominated for 2025 Aesthetica Art Prize
Sof, an Italian artist, creates interactive art that evolves with audience engagement. His work, Geo 1, is a contender for the 2025 Aesthetica Art Prize and features a magnetic mosaic surface that can be rearranged by viewers, unveiling light patterns hidden beneath mirrored shards. Inspired by a teenage interest in pixels and mosaic techniques, Sof employs neodymium magnets and integrates LEDs with custom Light Guide Panels for a smooth, tinted illumination. He collaborates with a company specializing in hand-blown flat glass to produce unique semi-tempered opal glass. Additionally, Sof aims to experiment with unconventional materials and is set to launch a crowdfunding campaign for his CHIMNAES series. The Aesthetica Art Prize Exhibition 2025 is on display at York Art Gallery until 25 January 2025.
