Italian artist SAGG Napoli stages Dior runway performance in Paris

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Italian artist SAGG Napoli (born Sofia Anna Ginevra Giannì, 1991) designed the set and performed archery at Dior's Spring/Summer 2025 womenswear show, which opened Paris Fashion Week. The installation, a glass and metal tunnel wrapped in a sky-colored gallery, featured the text "May the construction of a strong mind and body be the greatest work I have ever realized." Creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri drew inspiration from the Amazons, mythological precursors of feminism, to explore the triad of body, fashion, and sport just weeks after the Paris Olympics and Paralympics. The collection included asymmetric Bar jackets and blouses in light faille, sleeveless trenches, bodysuits with bright fringes, biker jackets, pants, and skirts in optical black and white, plus sneakers, bags, belts, and gloves. SAGG Napoli, who lives and works between London and Naples, studied at Camberwell College of Arts and is known for dismantling gender stereotypes through photography, performance, video, and social media. Her work often references Naples' collective imagery and the intersection of art, fashion, advertising, and sport. She previously presented the installation "Progress Isn't a Straight Line" at Artissima with Warsaw's Import Export gallery.
