Italian artist Marco Papa plans new foundation in Erice, Sicily
Italian artist Marco Papa (born 1973 in Ancona) is establishing the Fondazione Marco Papa in Erice, Sicily, in a former industrial building at the foot of Mount Erice overlooking the Mediterranean. The foundation will host residencies, studios, and labs for drawing, sculpture, photography, video, 3D design, and other media. It will also feature five guest apartments inspired by the five elements, a biodynamic farm producing 'MetAgricoltura,' a bar and restaurant serving a 'MetaMenù,' and a shop selling 'MetArte' works and multiples under a circular economy model called 'MetaEconomia.' The project aims to regenerate Trapani through contemporary art, with fundraising underway among private collectors and local institutions. The foundation will also offer a 'MetaEsperienza' involving guests in art production and sensory-spiritual workshops in historic local sites. Local institutions have expressed interest. Papa's current exhibitions 'In Forma Virtù' and 'Divina Tenebra' are on view at Museo DiART San Rocco in Trapani until November 30.
