Italian artist Fausta Squatriti dies at 82
On April 23, 2024, Fausta Squatriti, a celebrated Italian artist known for her innovative multiples and artist's books, passed away in Milan at the age of 82. Born in Milan in 1941, she first garnered attention in 1964, thanks to gallerist Pierre Lundholm. Her artwork is housed in prestigious collections such as the Musée d'Orsay and Moderna Museet. Throughout the 1970s, her pieces were showcased in numerous Italian galleries and international biennials, earning her two awards in San Francisco. Additionally, she taught at fine arts academies and curated the 1986 Venice Biennale. A poet and prose writer, she received the Premio Eugenio Montale in 1988. Her funeral took place on April 26 at the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio. She was also a co-founder of Kiliagono and Teatro dell'autore in scena.
