Italian Architects Becchetti and Felici Win Berlin Prize, Work in Urban Regeneration
Arturo Becchetti and Fabrizio Felici, born in 1992 from Ferrara and Rome respectively, won the third edition of the Premio Berlino, a joint initiative of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAECI) and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage (MiBACT), in collaboration with ANCB The Aedes Metropolitan Laboratory. They are spending a six-month professional training period in Berlin, focusing on reuse and urban regeneration. After earning master's degrees in Architectural Design from Roma Tre University, they gained experience through international competitions and editorial work. In Berlin, they work at different firms: Becchetti at TOPOTEK1, Felici at gmp Architekten von Gerkan, Marg und Partner. Becchetti contributed to a competition for the Siemensstadt district redevelopment, while Felici worked on a competition for broadcaster RBB in Westend. They note Berlin's investment in renewal and active architectural debate, but caution against the myth of easy construction. Both express intentions to return to Italy to contribute to its regeneration. The prize is supported by the Italian Cultural Institute and Aedes Metropolitan Laboratory.
