Italian and French Embassies Host Dual Opera Concerts for Young Talents on Rai5

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-27

A Franco-Italian cooperation agreement between the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma and the Opéra National de Paris has launched a cultural initiative featuring young opera singers. On Saturday, April 10, at 6:00 PM, Rai5 will broadcast a double concert recorded at Palazzo Farnese in Rome (home of the French Embassy) and at the Hôtel de la Rochefoucauld-Doudeauville in Paris (Italian Embassy). In Rome, performers from the "Fabbrica" Young Artist Program of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma sang French opera arias by Bizet and Gounod in spaces including the Galleria dei Carracci, the Scalone d'Onore, the Salone d'Ercole, and even the ancient underground and granary. In Paris, young artists from the Académie de l'Opéra National de Paris performed works by Donizetti, Rossini, Verdi, and Bellini at the Teatro Siciliano and the Sala della Musica of the Italian Embassy. The initiative aims to continue cultural exchange despite the pandemic. Statements from Alexander Neef (Director General of Opéra National de Paris), Carlo Fuortes (Superintendent of Teatro dell'Opera di Roma), French Ambassador to Italy Christian Masset, and Italian Ambassador to France Teresa Castaldo emphasize the importance of supporting young talent and maintaining cultural access during challenging times.
