Italian actor Flavio Bucci, who portrayed painter Antonio Ligabue in a 1977 Rai TV series, dies at 72

Flavio Bucci, born in Turin in 1947, died today at age 72 in his home in Passoscuro, on the Roman coast. The news was announced by the mayor of Fiumicino, Esterino Montino, via a Facebook post, describing Bucci as a great character actor who contributed to Italian cinema. Bucci is known for roles in films such as "Il Marchese del Grillo" alongside Alberto Sordi, Dario Argento's "Suspiria," and Paolo Sorrentino's "Il Divo." One of his most popular roles was the painter Antonio Ligabue in a successful 1977 Rai television drama directed by Salvatore Nocita. This comes shortly before the release of "Volevo Nascondermi," a new film about Ligabue directed by Giorgio Diritti and starring Elio Germano.
