Italian actor and filmmaker Francesco Nuti dies at 68
Francesco Nuti, the cherished Italian actor and filmmaker, passed away at the age of 68 at the Villa Verde clinic in Rome. His health had been deteriorating for years due to struggles with depression, alcoholism, a cranial hematoma that left him in a coma from 2006 to 2009, and a cerebral hemorrhage in 2016. Nuti gained recognition in the late 1970s after being discovered by Alessandro Benvenuti and Athina Cenci from the cabaret group Giancattivi, later becoming popular through TV shows like Non stop and Black Out. He made his film debut in 1981 with Ad ovest di Paperino and directed his first film, Casablanca, Casablanca, in 1985. His romantic comedies include Tutta colpa del paradiso (1985) and Il signor Quindicipalle (1998).
