Islamic Arts Biennale 2025 in Jeddah Concludes Second Edition
The Western Hajj Terminal in Jeddah recently hosted the conclusion of the second edition of the Islamic Arts Biennale, named “And All That Is In Between.” This event was curated by an international team comprising Amin Jaffer, Julian Raby, Abdul Rahman Azzam, and Muhannad Shono. Drawing from a Qur'anic verse, the biennial examined diverse dialogues across various times, places, and forms. It showcased items from regions such as the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, South Asia, and Southeast Asia, displayed in both indoor galleries—including pavilions for Mecca and Medina—and the outdoor area known as AlMidhallah (The Canopy). The exhibition featured a mix of Islamic artifacts and site-specific works, emphasizing continuity and transformation within Islamic material culture, thus reinforcing its status as a prominent global platform for Islamic art.
