institutional · 2026-08-14

For its 2026–27 fellowship program, the Institute for Studies on Latin American Art (ISLAA) has chosen 24 scholars, marking its largest cohort yet. This group comprises 16 PhD researchers from Latin America and eight from the United States, with research topics ranging from the Bienal de La Habana to women printmakers in Buenos Aires. Each fellow will conduct research at ISLAA's Tribeca Research Center for a duration of two to four weeks. Founder Ariel Aisiks increased the number of fellows from 13 to 24 in response to a high volume of strong applications. Among the notable fellows are Gonzalo Aguilar and Mónica Amieva Montañez. Additionally, Michael J. Anderson will take over as director of the Portland Art Museum on October 12, and Anna Katz has been appointed senior curator at SFMOMA. Art Toronto is set to host 105 exhibitors from October 29 to November 1.
