ISIA Faenza Opens First Design Library in Emilia Romagna, Named After Bruno Munari
ISIA Faenza has inaugurated a new design library in the 18th-century Palazzo Mazzolani, the first of its kind in Emilia Romagna, symbolically named after Bruno Munari. The library opens the institute's book collection to the public, continuing a policy of community engagement. It is expanding through an acquisition and donation campaign that has already gathered about 500 rare volumes from designers, scholars, and collectors. The library features sections spanning art history, technology, and ceramic techniques, reflecting design's interdisciplinary nature. It targets students and scholars but also aims to serve the local community. Giovanna Cassese, president of ISIA since 2016, highlighted that the initiative seeks to raise the visibility of public higher education in art and design. The library's cataloging was handled by the Reti Bibliotecarie di Romagna, ensuring inclusion in the national OPAC SBN. The donation campaign, titled "Dona un tuo libro all'ISIA di Faenza," yielded rare items, including an unpublished "libro illeggibile" by Bruno Munari from 1956, donated by his son. Munari was chosen as the namesake because he co-founded ISIA, served on its first scientific committee, and conducted ceramic workshops there in the late 1970s. ISIA will also participate for the first time in the Salone Satellite as an institution, with a stand in the international design schools section.
