Isabelle Levenez's Dreamlike Sportscape at L'Entracte

At L'Entracte in Sablé-sur-Sarthe from January 15 to March 8, 2015, Isabelle Levenez presented an exhibition that eschews a unifying theme in favor of an atmospheric experience. The show weaves together sound, video, drawing, and installation to evoke the margins of sport—specifically a deserted nighttime football field. A video shows a figure slowly kicking leaves, destroying the penalty area in an offside, off-screen gesture. The artist references Gilles Deleuze, who saw sport as the ultimate tool of thought without winners or losers. Other works include a salt ocean drawing mistaken for a photograph, a projected phrase about loss in faint white neon, and a white noise resonating like a Mallarmé poem. The exhibition creates a dreamlike promenade that blurs spatiotemporal markers, echoing the absent body once central to Levenez's work.
