Isabel Alonso Vega's First Italian Exhibition at White Noise Gallery
Isabel Alonso Vega (Madrid, 1968) presents her first Italian solo exhibition at White Noise Gallery in Rome. The show features minimalist alchemy transformed into plexiglass sheets, forming a wunderkammer of the new millennium made of plastic and ephemeral elements. The clouds recall Peter Alexander's 1960s Cloud box, but the solid uniqueness of the American cube is an illusion. Instead of resin, there is a succession of screens working together. The research evokes both wonder and fear in vitrines with black smoke, noir and alarming versions of earlier works. The unrepeatable and ephemeral outcome of a fire is captured, while the suggestion of upward movement without wind or gravity flares in charcoal drawings on the walls. After passing a test of courage, visitors access a secret room of golds—thin but brilliant threads capable of overcoming the darkness of an illuminated exhibition choice.
