Irving Sandler Exhibition at Loretta Howard Gallery and Joan Mitchell Symposium in New Orleans

In Manhattan, the Loretta Howard Gallery is currently featuring an exhibition titled "Irving Sandler: Out of Tenth Street and Into the 1960s." Sandler is well-known for his insightful documentation of the New York art scene, particularly regarding artists and critics. Over in New Orleans, there’s a three-day symposium celebrating Joan Mitchell, scheduled for April 9-11, 2010. Organized by Tulane University's Newcomb Art Gallery and the Joan Mitchell Foundation, this event will include art historians, Mitchell’s friends, and film showings. Three exhibitions will also showcase her remarkable works, including her paintings. Additionally, Sandler has put out a new edition of "The Triumph of American Painting," which centers on 1942. Other exhibitions include artists like Laurie Anderson and Marcel Dzama at various galleries.
