Iris van Herpen's Sensory Seas: Behind the Scenes of Avant-Garde Fashion

Iris van Herpen, a Dutch designer known for merging aesthetic harmony with technological innovation, released a behind-the-scenes video for her latest collection Sensory Seas, presented on January 20 at the Cirque d'Hiver Bouglione in Paris. The video, directed by Jip Mus, reveals the production process of the garments and the runway show. Van Herpen, born in Wamel in 1984, trained with Claudy Jongstra and Alexander McQueen during university. She specializes in combining 3D printing with ancient craft techniques. Her collaborations include Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, and Björk (for whom she created costumes for the Cornucopia show), as well as architects and artists like Daniel Widrig and Bart Hess. The video explores van Herpen's imaginative world, where fabric becomes organic membrane, wing, or gill, drawing inspiration from human and animal anatomy.
